 WEST YORKSHIRE CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE - RACE 4 - OULTON - 8 DECEMBER 2024 

​

 Sienna Lavine made it 4 wins out of 4 in this year's series of races. She was more than half a minute clear of the rest of the field in the U13 Girls race in what was a tough test of resilience for all the athletes in muddy conditions and freezing rain throughout the race. Julian Rutkowski had another good run to finish 6th in the U13 Boys race.

 WEST YORKSHIRE CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE - RACE 3 - MIDDLETON PARK - 10 NOVEMBER 2024

​

 Sienna Lavine made it 3 wins out of 3 in this year's series of races, crossing the line well clear of the field of 36 runners and is now assured of being the overall winner in her age group for the 3rd year running. Julian Rutkowski had another good run to finish 6th out of 36 in the Under 13 Boys race.

 WEST YORKSHIRE CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE - RACE 2 - THORNES PARK - 27 OCTOBER 2024

​

 Once again, Sienna Lavine was a clear winner in the Under 13 Girls race, finishing nearley half a minute clear of the opposition. In the Under 11 Boys race, Max Wainwright produced his best performance so far by finishing 7th out of a field of 30. William Atkinson also ran well on his debut for the club to finish 12th. In the Under 13 Boys race, Julian Rutkowski had another good run to finish 9th out of 40.

 WEST YORKSHIRE CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE - RACE 1 - NUNROYD PARK - 6 OCTOBER 2024

 

 Sienna Lavine was a clear winner in the Under 13 Girls race, well ahead of the field of 42 runners. It was Sienna's 8th consecutive victory in the West Yorkshire Cross Country League. Julian Rutkowski also produced an outstanding performance to finish 5th in the Under 13 Boys race, easily his best ever performance. Toby Johnson came 15th in the same race. Max Wainwright also ran well to come 16th in the Under 11 Boys race.

CLUB CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS - 22nd SEPTEMBER 2024

​

 We held our Club Cross Country Championships in Pontefract Park on 22nd September 2024. Winners within each age group were:-

 Under 11 Girls - Ava Austin

 Under 11 Boys - Max Wainwright       

 Under 13 Girls - Sienna Lavine

 Under 13 Boys - Julian Rutkowski

 Senior Ladies - Amelie Roper

 Senior Men - Chris Quirke

 ENGLISH NATIONAL CROSS COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS - 14 SEPTEMBER 2024

​

 These championships were originally scheduled to take place in February 2024, but had to be postponed due to the course being waterlogged. Sienna Lavine competed in the Under 13 Girls race over a distance of 3K. Competing against girls up to 2 years older than herself, Sienna finished 13th out of 247 finishers. If the championships had been held on the original date, Sienna would not have been able to compete, as she was still in the Under 11 age group at that time. The English Cross Country Association decided to allow the girls, who have now just become 1st year Under 13s to compete against athletes who are now actually first year Under 15s. Out of the 12 who finished ahead of Sienna, 11 were first year Under 15s and 1 was a 2nd year Under 13, so this was a really outstanding performance.

 WEST YORKSHIRE CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE 2024

 

 This league caters for all age groups from Under 11s to seniors. Fixture dates and venues for 2024 are as follows:-

   6 October 2024 (Sunday) - Nunroyd Park, Yeadon

 27 October 2024 (Sunday) - Thornes Park, Wakefield

 10 November 2024 (Sunday) - Middleton Park, Leeds

   8 December 2024 (Sunday) - Oulton

 NATIONAL PRIMARY SCHOOLS AND YEAR 7 CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS - 3 MARCH 2024 

​

 Sienna Lavine became the first athlete from our club to win a medal in a national cross country championships when she won the silver medal for finishing 2nd in the Year 6 Girls event at these prestigious championships. Competing over a distance of 2700 metres at Prestwold Hall, Loughborough, Sienna finished 2nd out of the large field of 253 finishers from the length and breadth of the country.

 WEST YORKSHIRE CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE - RACE 4 - OULTON - 10 DECEMBER 2023 

 

 In extremely muddy conditions, Sienna Lavine made it 4 wins out of 4 in the Under 11 Girls age group to clinch the overall winners shield for the 2nd year in succession. With Ava Flaherty finishing 15th, Ava Austin 16th and Hope Prentice 24th, our U11 Girls finished 2nd in the team race and that gave them 2nd place overall in the team competition. This is the first time that our club has won medals in the team competition in the West Yorkshire Cross Country League, so well done to them.

 

 WEST YORKSHIRE CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE - RACE 3 - SOUTH LEEDS - 18 NOVEMBER 2023 

 

 Sienna Lavine made it 3 wins in succession in the Under 11 Girls race, finishing 16 seconds clear of her nearest rival. Ava Austin finished 18th and Ava Flaherty 21st to give us 2nd place in the Under 11 Girls team race. Toby Johnson and Max Wainwright both ran well to finish 14th and 16th in the Under 11 Boys race.

 WEST YORKSHIRE CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE - RACE 2 - WAKEFIELD - 29 OCTOBER 2023 

​

 Sienna Lavine was first again in the Under 11 Girls race, winning the race by a considerable margin.

 Our Under 11 Girls team of Sienna Lavine (1st), Ava Flaherty (18th) and Ava Austin (19th) came 3rd in the U11 Girls team race.

 WEST YORKSHIRE CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE - RACE 1 - NUNROYD PARK - 8 OCTOBER 2023

 Sienna Lavine carried on where she left last year, winning the Under 11 Girls race in the first race in this year's West Yorkshire Cross Country League. Sienna was 7 seconds clear of her nearest competitor when she crossed the finish line.​​​

 National Primary and Year 7 Cross Country Championships - 25 March 2023

 Sienna Lavine finished 4th out of 162 in the Year 5 age group in these national championships at Prestwold Hall, Loughborough.

Congratulations to Sienna Lavine, who became Pontefract Athletics Club's

first ever overall winner of the West Yorkshire Cross Country League after

winning race 4 in the Under 11 Girls age group in the 2022

West Yorkshire Cross Country League. Sienna won 3 out of the 4 races

in the 2022 series to clinch the overall winners shield. In 2023, Sienna won all

4 races in the Under 11 Girls age group to secure the overall winners shield for

the second year running.
